Pluton Welcomes Boahemaa Adu-Oppong, PhD as Director of Data Science

Dr. Boahemaa Adu-Oppong has joined Pluton Biosciences as Director of Data Science. In her new role Dr. Adu-Oppong designs and maintains bioinformatic pipelines for Micromining®, Pluton’s discovery platform, and performs data management and analytics for various Pluton projects. She is creating an automated bioinformatic platform that will allow research scientists and collaborators to execute analysis pipelines and visualize our data.

Dr. Adu-Oppong brings more than 10 years of experience in genomics, metagenomics, data science, and cloud engineering. She has taught bootcamps on Data Science and Analytics as an Adjunct Instructor at Washington University in St. Louis, and has worked as a Data Scientist at Bayer Crop Science, and as a Field Bioinformatic Scientist at Thermo Fisher Scientific. She is passionate about outreach and, as a co-founder of the Show Me The World Project, has helped youth from under-resourced communities access transformational educational experiences. Dr. Adu-Oppong has a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Rice University under the supervision of Dr. Joan Strassmann and Dr. Dave Queller, and earned her PhD in Evolution, Ecology, and Population Biology from Washington University under the supervision of Dr. Gautam Dantas.
